Always prepare and be prepared
When someone like me photographs quinces often we start to compile a list of all of the things we see that we would suggest you do and don't do. I have seen everything from girls being lightheaded to unflattering makeup to breakouts. We have all been there trust me and I personally don't want that for you. I want my quinces to have the best experience and the prettiest of photos. So here is a checklist I have compiled for you to reference and to hopefully help relieve your stress
Night before checklist
- Get plenty of rest to prevent bags under your eyes
- Drink water and stay hydrate throughout your session especially in Texas. You don't want to faint or look sickly for your portraits
- If you have any zits use ice on them the night before to help with inflammation especially because makeup can irritate them.
- STAY AWAY FROM GREASY FOODS. You know your body if you're like me greasy foods tend to make your face greasy, and we don't want that.
- Don't wear a bra with straps before putting on your dress especially if it's strapless indents in the skin is not flattering
- Layout your outfit the night before and go over it making sure you have everything.
- Check over your outfit to make sure nothing is wrong with. Nothing more fun than having no safety pins to pin on that removable bow in the back
DAy of Checklist
What to bring:
- blotting paper, a good blotting paper is put out by the NYX brand and it's fairly inexpensive here on: Amazon
- extra bobby pins
- your lipstick you used
- pressed powder
- makeup remover pen
- tissues
- lots of water
- eyelash glue
- safety pins
- hairspray
- clothes to change into
- mirror
All of these items are important because at some point and time something could happen that you may cause you to end up needing it.
Some Additional tips
A good thing to do avoid ruining makeup is to get a plastic water bottle and use something small and sharp to poke a hole on the lid this makes it so one can squirt water into your mouth without touching your lips to anything.
If possible, bring a portable, fan if it's hot, out this will help keep you cool and hopefully stop sweat which can ruin makeup and look bad in photos, as it creates a shine. A wet towel and ice packs can also help. To keep from overheating you can shove ice packs under your armpits. When I was younger, I worked as a lifeguard, and we used this trick because under your armpit is a large blood vessel that doesn't contract when cold.
Use the bathroom beforehand some locations don't have bathrooms, or the bathroom isn't big enough to accommodate your beautiful dresses and don't rely on just being able to take of your skirt if it's detachable.
If you follow all of these tips your session is bound to be great!
